A legacy of Inspiring Better for our members and communities.
Welcome to WESTconsin. We deeply thank you for choosing our credit union as your financial partner. We opened our doors in 1939 during a turbulent time for everyone in our nation's history especially for those working in the agriculture industry we were founded in. And yet, we've grown and prospered through the decades, opening new offices in new communities, offering new services, unveiling new technologies, even switching to a new name.
But through the changes, we've maintained our original focus - to provide our members with first-rate financial services. Every time you walk through our doors - or contact us in some other way - we have one single thought: "How can we help you today?"
We're glad to tell you a little more about our past and what inspires us to keep doing what we do today, tomorrow and into the future.
Our Mission
To give members, communities, and one another the inspiration, resources, and support to achieve financial wellness.
Our History
Our history takes us back to primarily serving the Menomonie area agricultural community, then operating as Menomonie Farmers Credit Union.
- We expanded in membership base over the next several years and merged with other small credit unions in the region.
- In the summer of 1990, we recognized this growth by changing our name to WESTconsin Credit Union.
- Today, our field of membership footprint includes 28 counties in west-central Wisconsin and east-central Minnesota. We have office locations in Altoona, Amery, Baldwin, Barron, Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire, Ellsworth, Hudson, Menomonie, New Richmond, Prescott, Rice Lake, and River Falls, Wisconsin.
- The spirit of our philosophy, "People helping people," guides WESTconsin leaders and encourages our employees to get involved in community and charitable activities and worthwhile causes, including sponsorships, donations, and volunteerism.
Our Inspiration
We seek to enrich members, communities, and employees with the resources and support to achieve financial wellness. While supporting one another, we’re Inspiring Better.
- We're inspired to help you achieve life's milestones with affordable loans for auto and home purchases.
- We're inspired to help you face life's challenges with personal loans for everything from medical bills to debt consolidation to home repairs.
- We're inspired to teach you everything you need to know personal finance through a variety of resources to help you become a smarter consumer and architect of your financial future.
- We're inspired to sit down face-to-face with our members to provide financial counseling to help you with budgeting, debt reduction, saving strategies and more.
- We're inspired to continue to search for ways to better serve you and the community through innovation that comes from our membership, our leadership team, and our team of dedicated employees.
Our Purpose
In fact, we are owned and operated by and for our members. This allows WESTconsin to operate at a lower cost than for-profit financial institutions and, in turn, offer enhanced benefits for our members and their communities.
Low-cost, high-quality products and services
- Many people choose to become a member at a credit union because they can offer lower rates on loans and higher rates on deposit accounts.
Financial resources for any stage of life
- WESTconsin has financial advisors on staff who meet with our members to help provide them with advice and tips to reach their goals.
- Our partnership with GreenPath Financial Wellness also provides members with access to financial education and counseling services.
- Banzai! offers interactive, online courses, articles, and calculators for students and adults.
- Our free Financial Calculators can show you what loans you can afford, best ways to consolidate debt, balance your checkbook, and so much more!
