Become a Member
Better financial services are just a few easy steps away.
Become a WESTconsin member simply by opening a savings account.
WESTconsin Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative. What does that mean? We exist to help our members, not make a profit. Our account holders - our members - each own an equal share in their financial institution. In other words, our members own the credit union.
- Open a Membership Savings Account (really, an ordinary savings account) with a minimum balance of $5.
- Once you open a Membership Savings Account, you're eligible for our convenient checking options, high-performance deposit accounts, low-cost loans, financial education resources, and everything else we offer.
- Profits go back to our member-owners in the form of better rates, increased services, and reduced fees.
By law, most credit unions can only accept members from certain geographic areas or employers.
You may join WESTconsin if you live or work in one of the following counties.
Wisconsin - Barron, Buffalo, Burnett, Chippewa, Clark, Dunn, Eau Claire, Jackson, Pepin, Pierce, Polk, Rusk, St. Croix, Sawyer, Taylor, Trempealeau and Washburn
Minnesota - Anoka, Chisago, Dakota, Goodhue, Hennepin, Isanti, Pine, Ramsey, Scott, Wabasha, and Washington
Even if you do not live or work in one of the listed counties, you can join if you:
- Are an employee or student of any university or technical college located in any of the counties in our service area.
- Are a member of the immediate family of a person eligible for membership. Immediate family members include spouses, parents, children, stepparents, stepchildren, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, and relatives living in the same household.
- You belong to an organization, association of individuals, or entity with a majority of its directors, owners, or members eligible for membership.
- The organization, association, or entity has a business location in the counties listed above.
- You are involved in a trust that has a majority of the settlers, trustees, and beneficiaries eligible for membership.
- If you are unsure about your eligibility or want more information, please contact us.
- Once you become a member, you're always a member, regardless of if you move away, change jobs, leave school, or end you association with a specific organization.

Member Stories
When we say we’re here to help our members, we mean it! But you shouldn't just take our word for it. We're proud to share stories from members past and present who offer thanks to the credit union for helping them consolidate debt, lower monthly payments, start a business, or achieve some other financial goal.

Member Experience
As part-owner of the credit union, your feedback allows us to improve our services and offer products that benefit you and the rest of the membership. It also lets us celebrate the great team members who provide wonderful service to our membership.
Since 2018, we have received over 50,000 surveys. Decisions about changes are often led and influenced by member feedback. Our leadership often follows up with members to gain clarity on what we can do better and to say thank you for taking the time to provide feedback.
Surveys aren’t the only opportunity to share your thoughts and suggestions. Here are a few other ways we would love to hear from you:
- WESTconsin values our members’ experiences. Sara Fahl, Vice President of Member Engagement, and Jenny Rathke, Vice President of Member Advocacy, focus on listening to member feedback and making sure our decisions always put members first. You can reach them by calling our Service Center at (800) 924-0022.
- Stop into any office or call our Service Center. All our employees are here to help. They all go through multiple training courses and strive to exceed your expectations. If we are unable to assist you to your satisfaction, the representatives will share your suggestions and thoughts with the appropriate management.
Your suggestions and insights have had an impact:
- All members can now access their online accounts, both WESTconsin Online and Business Connect, through the same unified mobile app, reducing the amount of confusion between multiple apps.
- Business members now have higher mobile deposit limits within WESTconsin Online and Business Connect.
- New and existing members are now able to open accounts online.
- From our website, you are now able to schedule an appointment to visit any of our locations for help opening accounts, applying for loans, financial coaching, and more.
- When you’re dealing with debit card fraud, our enhanced member dispute process allows you more convenience and flexibility to get help over the phone.
