Checking Accounts

Yes, to open a checking account at WESTconsin Credit Union you need to be a member. To become a member of WESTconsin Credit Union, you will be required to open and maintain a Membership Savings Account. A Membership Savings Account can be opened for you with a $5 minimum balance.

We will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information, such as a taxpayer identification number, that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your valid driver’s license and/or other identifying documents, due to a federal requirement that all financial institutions verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.

When you open a checking account, we will ask questions to better understand you as a member and to understand the purpose and type of activity to be expected on your account. To comply with updated Customer Due Diligence (CDD) rules, we may ask additional questions regarding your intended purpose for your checking account.

Free Instant-issue debit cards are available at all WESTconsin offices. You will leave with your debit card in hand the day you open your account.

Yes, you can manage automatic payments and recurring transfers through WESTconsin Online, at your local office, or by calling our Service Center. *Subject to checking account type.

Yes, you can access your account information for direct deposit on WESTconsin Online by printing a direct deposit checking form, by inquiring at your local office, or by calling our Service Center. *Subject to checking account type.

Yes, WESTconsin Credit Union makes ordering, and reordering, checks easy. You will have the option to order checks during account opening, or later at your local office, or by calling our Service Center. Reordering your checks can also be done online through WESTconsin Online.

WESTconsin Credit Union offers youth savings accounts to those under 18 years of age that are structured to encourage and reward savings. The minor may also open a checking account with a parent/guardian on the account. *Subject to vary dependent on age of minor and credit history of the parent/guardian.

Adds Up Checking

Financial Advantages:

  • Unlimited Check Clearing
  • $500 Minimum Balance Requirement to avoid monthly service fee
  • Overdraft Protection Services available
  • Higher Annual Percentage Yield (APY) applies on first $15,000 if all requirements are satisfied
  • Balances above $15,000 will earn Membership Savings APY if all requirements are satisfied
  • All balances will earn Preferred Checking APY if requirements are not satisfied

Requirements:

  • Receive monthly direct deposit from a primary source of income
  • Complete 15 or more posted merchant purchases (point of sale transactions), using a debit card during each statement month. ATM withdrawals are not included
  • Receive monthly statements as an eStatement. Member must sign up and register for eStatements through WESTconsin Online
  • Limit one AddsUp checking account per household. A household cannot have both an AddsUp and Preferred Checking
